Description
Looking for a celebration slab cake in Wollongong that feeds a crowd and stops the room? This is it. It’s handcrafted in our Cringila kitchen and built for the moments that matter most.
The cake starts with layers of light, airy sponge filled and finished with real fresh cream. We never use buttercream, so every slice tastes clean, light and not too sweet. Rows of hand-piped cream rosettes line the top. Delicate white ruffles wrap the sides, and flakes of gold leaf catch the light from every angle.
The long slab shape serves 30 people, making it ideal for engagements, weddings, 18ths, 21sts, 50ths, anniversaries and Eid or family gatherings. It looks spectacular on a dessert table and is easy to cut into neat, even pieces.

FAQs
What is a celebration cake?
A celebration cake is any cake made to mark a special occasion, such as a birthday, engagement, wedding, anniversary, graduation or religious festival. It’s usually more decorative than an everyday cake, with personalised colours, flowers, toppers or messages. At Wollongong City Patisserie, our celebration cakes are made with fresh cream only, never buttercream, for a lighter, less-sweet taste.
What is the difference between a sheet cake and a slab cake?
There’s no real difference. “Sheet cake” and “slab cake” are two names for the same thing: a large, flat, rectangular cake baked to feed a crowd. “Slab cake” is the more common term in Australia, while “sheet cake” is mostly used in the US. Both are popular for parties because they’re easy to decorate and cut into neat, even portions.
How much does a slab cake cost?
At Wollongong City Patisserie, our Celebration Slab Cake costs $300 with decorative crimson roses and gold leaf, or $350 with fresh raspberries. The price covers a large, party-sized cake made with fresh cream sponge and hand-finished decoration, baked fresh in our Cringila kitchen. Slab cake prices generally depend on size, number of serves, filling and decoration, so a custom design may cost more.
Is this cake made with buttercream?
No. Wollongong City Patisserie uses fresh cream only. The sponge is layered and finished with real fresh cream for a lighter, less-sweet taste.
